3 Ways Yoga Changed My Life

We see and hear about yoga all the time but what is all the hype about?

Yoga is one the most ancient ways of movement. Yoga is a beautiful form of self expression and flow. It is a exhilarating yet relaxing way to move the body, stretch and strengthen the core.

I started practicing yoga in 2013. I would do it all the time or not at all, I’ve always been an all in or nothing kind of gal. My favourite yoga is HOT! I love hot yoga! I have gotten back into doing yoga and have found a balance of doing it on a regular basis and loving it and the way it makes me feel. There is something about the heat that allows me to focus in more on my breath, stay warm, encourages me to drink more water,  have more flexibility in all my poses and sweat it out.

Yoga is a mental, physical and spiritual practice that has been used for centuries. From my experience practicing yoga I have learned 3 things that have changed my life mentally, physically and spiritually…

1 NamaSTAY.

Stay in the moment, focusing on the moment, your breath, the flow allows you to clear your mind and have clarity. When you are present in the moment of your practice, focus on breathing it gives you freedom from your thoughts, it allows you to let go of everything except for yourself, your wellness in the very moment you are in. Staying in the moment made me realize there are two things that matter; the HERE and the NOW. Here and Now is all we have and all there is, always. Being in this place lets you to acknowledge what comes and goes, any discomforts you just let go. In this place you let go of expectations and just allow your body to go as much and as far as it can go in this moment.

P.s. Yoga also boosts serotonin levels and can help you break free from your clouded thoughts and fatigue.

2 Drop and give me ZEN.

You not only improve your balance and flexibility but stretch out muscles you didn’t even know you had while strengthening your entire core by building muscle. You do this all with a still mind in complete PEACE! The combination of strong muscles, balance and flexibility frees your body and mind from tension and tightness!

3 OM is where the heart is.

How beautiful is it to acknowledge others with Namaste “the light in me recognizes and see the light in you” – we are light beings made up of energy from the same source. Yoga has provided me with the clarity to see others in light. We are all different yet all the same as well. Every class invigorates me to go about my day in a mindful way. Breathing deeply and focusing on each inhale and exhale stimulates your prefrontal cortex, the brain’s center for higher thought. Your intense focus helps to hush the amygdala part of the brain which is responsible for your emotions and promotes more control your feelings like fear. Fear is fake and love is real. When you are able to be mindful of this aspect and your emotions you drive the day, your thoughts, decisions from love. from a place that is aligned with what you really want.

“Your life is a sacred journey. It is about change, growth, discovery, movement, transformation, continuously expanding your vision of what is possible, stretching your soul, learning to see clearly and deeply, listening to your intuition, taking courageous challenges at every step along the way. You are on the path… exactly where you are meant to be right now… And from here, you can only go forward, shaping your life story into a magnificent tale of triumph, of healing, of courage, of beauty, of wisdom, of power, of dignity, and of love.” –  Caroline Adams

The goodness me in see the goodness in each and everyone of you!

With all my love,
